
(Los Angeles –April 1, 2010) Cops 4 Causes, responding to the news of the tragic deaths of Marine Sgt Major Robert J. Cottle (LAPD Metropolitan Division/SWAT officer) and Lance Cpl Rick J. Centanni (son of Santa Ana Police Sgt Jon Centanni) announces the “Baker to Vegas Comedy Kick Off Party” fundraiser is being turned into a tribute to honor both men and will be held on Thursday, April 8, 2010 at the Laugh Factory, Long Beach.
The announcement came today after the all-volunteer organization’s board members met with Captain John Incontro (LAPD Metropolitan Division), Los Angeles Police Protective League and family members of both Marines. Cops 4 Causes President, Deputy Christopher T. Landavazo along with the board of directors also announced that two Cops 4 Causes programs will be named in honor of Cottle and Centanni: “Robert J. Cottle Returning Veterans Heroes Fund” and “Rick J. Centanni Fallen Heroes Scholarship” and that all money raised at the benefit will go to support these funds. Special check presentations of funds raised at previous Cops 4 Causes benefit will also be presented to Children’s Hospital Los Angeles and military veterans organizations, specifically the: Military Activation Committee (MAC) of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department (LASD) and the Military Liaison Unit of the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD). Numerous stars are scheduled to drop by to lend their support.
